A Typical Day at Forest School

Each Forest School session begins with a safety chat as we prepare for the day's adventure together. Children then have time for child-led play and exploration, allowing their curiosity to guide their learning through nature.

Midway through the session, we gather for a healthy snack before coming together for circle time. Through songs, stories, games, and seasonal learning, children build friendships, develop new skills, and deepen their connection with the natural world.

Every session is filled with opportunities to hike, climb, build forts, observe wildlife, create with natural materials, and discover something new. While each day follows a familiar rhythm, no two adventures are ever the same as the changing seasons bring endless opportunities to explore, learn, and grow.

Safety

At Little Wise Owls Outdoor Learning, your child's safety is our highest priority. Every Forest School session begins with a safety chat, and our experienced educators continuously assess the environment to ensure children can explore with confidence.

We complete ongoing risk assessments, maintain appropriate educator-to-child ratios, and adapt our activities based on weather, trail conditions, and air quality. Children are taught important outdoor safety skills, including trail awareness, respectful interactions with wildlife, and age-appropriate risk management.

We believe children learn best when they are given opportunities to explore, challenge themselves, and build confidence in a safe, supportive environment. By teaching children how to recognize and manage risk, we help them develop resilience, independence, and a lifelong appreciation for the outdoors.

Led by Ms. Mandy, an experienced Early Childhood Educator and Certified Nature and Forest Practitioner (CNAC), our program is thoughtfully designed to inspire curiosity, confidence, and a lifelong connection to nature.
